Post Trauma is a puzzle-driven horror game that is a tribute to the great survival horror games of the past. We’re Red Soul Games, a small group of hardcore horror fans who spent our childhoods playing those tense, atmospheric games of the golden era of horror. We wanted to recreate that same atmosphere but with a modern polish and some new twists to keep the players guessing.
The game is all about tricky escape room-type challenges that involve paying close attention and thinking things through. These aren’t the usual “find the key” barriers – you’ll need to study every aspect of your environment in order to move forward. We actually suggest having a pen and paper at hand because some challenges are that detailed.
Visually, we’ve mixed retro survival horror with top-of-the-line Unreal Engine 5 graphics. You’ll have those classic fixed camera angles and restrictive save systems (particularly harsh on hard mode), but with graphics that look amazing by modern standards. The tension builds up slowly, layering over itself until you’re always checking your back.
Combat is risky and usually preventable – at times fleeing is wiser than fighting. You’ll guide Roman, a neurotic train conductor whose voice is provided by Togo Igawa, as he awakens in a hellish world after having a major panic attack. He can defend himself against the monstrosities he faces, but ammunition and other supplies are limited leading to difficult choices on when to engage and when to run.
